Number 1: PARIS

NUMBER 1: PARIS

And finally my number 1 is Paris, the capital or France and in my opinion the most beautiful city in the world. Paris is in the north- middle of France and is situated on the river Seine. It has a population of 2.2 million people and is the most visited city in the world.

It has so many famous landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre (which has the Mona Lisa), the Arch de Triumph, The Place de la Concard, Notre Dame and the Champs Élysée.

Every year I visit Paris and every year I do something different  there are always things going on.
In regards to food there are 40,000 restaurants and my favourite cafe is Cafe Flore.
Each summer the banks of the river Seine are turned into beaches for those who cant get out of the city for the summer.

and for all these reasons and many more, I have chosen Paris as my NUMBER 1 WORLD WONDER.

Number 2: NEW YORK

NUMBER 2: NEW YORK

New York seems to be one of most people's favourite city and there's no reason why it shouldn't be.
It is situated on the east of The United states and is a small enough state. It is also known as the Big Apple and is infamous for so many things; its high rise buildings ( Empire State) the Statue of Liberty, Brooklyn Bridge, yellow taxi cabs and so so much more.
New York itself holds 5 different smaller areas: Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, Bronxs and Staten Island.

I went to New York in 2011 in February, we went for 5 days and I think we did as much sight seeing as we could have possibly done. And my favourite part was the Brooklyn bridge, I would really recommend doing it because the view is spectacular, also I would recommend doing The Top of the Rock and the Museum of modern art because it actually was very good.

I found that New York was very cold at that time colder than Ireland because of the current. But it gets hotter in the summer.

New York is home to over 8 million people and is the centre of many businesses. Another thing i would recommend doing is Radio City or Broadway when I was there i went to go see Aretha Franklin in Radio City.

Central Park is a very famous place and so many movies have been shot there, and I don't think people realise how huge it is, It's just over 3.5 km squared.

I would really recommend visiting New York I think it is one of the most amazing cities I've ever been too and I would love to go back.
and that is why New York is my number 2 World wonder

NUMBER 3: SOUTH AFRICA

I was born in Pretoria, South Africa and I can say that it would be my number 1 had it not been for the fact that I haven't revisited it yet.

It has a population of more than 51 million people and the capital is Pretoria.
It is hot during the day and cool at night and rainfall per annum is very small.

Myself and my sister were born there and she remembers more of it then I do, however the stories and picture that I have heard are incredible and I would love to visit it again.

South Africa is home to some of the most amazing savannahs and scenery. Seeing a lion in the middle of the road is not to uncommon there. The sun sets are amazing and South Africa's coast line hosts more than a million different plants and animals. It is also a very popular place for surfers to come as it has some of the biggest waves in the world.

I would really love to go back their some day and experience everything for myself first hand.
and that is why South Africa is my number 3 world wonder.

Number 4: Sicily

NUMBER 4:SICILY

Sicily is an island off Italy it is essentially 'the ball that the boot kicks'. It is quite a poor island however tourism is a big part. It is the largest island in the Mediterranean and has a population of over 5 million. It has 3 airports and main cities, Palermo, Ragusa and many more.

When I visited Sicily this summer I was there for two weeks in a small town called Scili, however we visited Ragusa, Siracusa and others too. We also climbed Mount Etna Volcano and it was amazing, it was very hot and temperature went up to nearly 40 degrees. We visited also Greek temple ruins and the Turkish cliffs, these were cliffs of chalk like white powder which you could put on your skin as a mask.

The sea is very warm and clear and also there are lots of wildlife.

The food is famous for being very Mediterranean and Italian, fresh veg, fish, meet and pastas.

and that is why Sicily is my number 4 world wonder.

Number 5: MONTENEGRO

MONTENEGRO

Montenegro is located in the south east of Europe, bordered by Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia and Albania. The capital is Podgorica and the country has a population of 625,266.
Montenegro used to be a part of a huge state called Yugoslavia which also was made up of Croatia, Serbia, Macedonia, Bosnia, Slovenia and Herzegovinia. Yugoslavia was created after world war 2 and the communist victory. The breakup of Yugoslavia happened as a result of political conflicts during the early 1990s. And when Yugpslavia separated Croats were in Serbia and Serbs in Montengro and Bosnias in Croatia so everyone was all over the place there were many wars due to ethnic and personal issues during this time, when, for example, a Bosnian wanted to marry a Serb, some families would break apart because of this.

I visited Montenegro when I was younger and I thought the landscape was so amazing in is mountainous and it is also on the sea.

I would strongly recommend visiting this country as it is one of the most beautiful places I have seen.
and that is why Montenegro is my number 5 world wonder.

Number 6: LONDON

NUMBER 6: LONDON

My number 6 world wonder is the city of London. This famous city which is known around the world for its world heritage sites and attracts more than 16 million people a year.

It has a population of over 8 million people and is home to so many world renowned buildinsg such as Big Ben, The London eye, Westminster Abbey,  and Buckingham Palace.
I first visited London in 2012 and I really enjoyed it, we packed in as much sight seeing as possible in a weekend but surprisingly the landmark I enjoyed the most was the Churchill bunker, i found it so interesting yet it is not very known, so i would strongly recommend visiting it.

Another favourite of mine was the London eye, but we did this in the evening and so we could see the whole city lit up and you get a full panorama of the beautiful english town.

I loved this city because it didnt feel too strange because it was close to home and it wasnt as hectic as i anticipated and I loved wandering around the city and that is why London is my number six wonder of the world.

Number 7: ISTANBUL

Number 7: ISTANBUL

Back in 2013, I visited Istanbul, not having planned it. Myself, my family and our friends had planned a skiing trip close to Sarajevo. However, there was no snow so spontaneously we decided to visit Istanbul, and it was one of the best places I have ever been to. And so I make it my number 7 world wonder.

THE BLUE MOSQUE
Istanbul is Europe's largest city and is known around the world for its beautiful architecture and Mosques. It is also the only city in the world which is spread over 2 continenst: Asia and Europe. its population is just 13 million of which 99% are Muslim. The Islamic religion is a huge part of Istanbul and the city is covered with breath taking mosques. Including the Blue mosque which I visited and I can say that it is one the most amazing buildings I have seen.

Istanbul is built on seven hills and is home to the third oldest subway. In the heart of Istanbul there is a huge market place called the grand bazaar. It is the biggest bazaar in the world and holds more than 3000 shops. In this bazaar people are encouraged to haggle for goods.

Being a predominantly Islamic city, each morning we were woken by morning prayers, which calls all Muslims to prayer, the song was amazing but took some getting used to.

THE GRAND BAZAAR

From my experience, I thought that Istanbul was most beautiful at night, from the rooftop of our apartment we could see the whole city, the glimmering water of the river which passes through the city and all the lights.

The food there is amazing too, for breakfast we had amazing egg and tomato dishes and pastries. Istanbul is full of amazing restaurants and café's.
